„Mousean Gothic“:
As you may have noticed, this picture is inspired by Grant Wood’s iconic painting „American Gothic“ (1930). When the original was first exhibited, the inhabitants of rural America were not amused. Even his models – the artist’s sister and his dentist – were unenthusiastic about their representations. The story goes that the dentist even refused to speak to the artist for several decades.

Wie ihr vielleicht bemerkt habt, ist dieses Bild von Grant Woods legendärem Gemälde “American Gothic” (1930) inspiriert. Als das Original erstmals ausgestellt wurde, waren die Bewohner des ländlichen Amerikas nicht erfreut. Sogar seine Modelle – die Schwester des Künstlers und sein Zahnarzt – waren nicht begeistert von ihrer Darstellung. Es heißt, dass der Zahnarzt sich danach jahrzehntelang geweigert habe, mit dem Künstler zu sprechen.
