“Chilling with Karl”:
Karl Lagerfeld is probably best remembered for his famous words: “Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You’ve lost control of your life, so you go out in sweatpants.”
However, this did not prevent him from designing his own sweatpants and including them in his collection, where they can still be purchased today at give-away prices around 200 bucks.
Confronted with his earlier statement, he casually replied: „Who cares about what I said yesterday?“
This is flexibility at its finest. It corresponds to the principle of sweatpants, which are always ready to accept whatever you put in them. They are the cosy living room our butts have always dreamed of, because this is where they can truly be themselves, big and free.
No wonder then that the world community has decreed an annual „Sweatpants Day“ (January 21).
“Chillen mit Karl”:
Karl Lagerfeld ist wahrscheinlich am besten für seinen berühmten Ausspruch bekannt: „Jogginghosen sind das Zeichen einer Niederlage. Man hat die Kontrolle über sein Leben verloren und dann geht man eben in Jogginghosen auf die Straße.“
Was ihn etwas später aber nicht davon abhielt, selbst Jogginghosen zu entwerfen und sie in seine Kollektion aufzunehmen, wo sie bis heute zu Schnäppchenpreisen zwischen 100 und 200 Euro zu erwerben sind.
Zur Rede gestellt, versetzte er lässig: „Was interessiert mich mein Geschwätz von gestern.“
Das ist Flexibilität in höchster Vollendung und entspricht dem Prinzip der Jogginghose, die stets klaglos aufnimmt, was man in sie hineintut. Sie ist das behagliche Wohnzimmer, von dem unser Hintern schon immer geträumt hat, weil er dort sein kann, was er ist, groß und frei.
Seit 2009 wird daher an jedem 21. Januar der „Tag der Jogginghose“ gefeiert.
